SIIMA 2017 Short Film Awards At Chennai


IIMA, the biggest and the most viewed South Indian Film Awards is back with its sixth edition and this time, VIVO is the title sponsor. The award ceremony will be hosted in Abu Dhabi on June 30th and July 1. Along with the feature film awards, SIIMA has also honored short filmmakers, technicians, and actors this year. The awards ceremony saw in attendance Rana Dagubatti, Suhasini Maniratnam, Ambika, Nikki Galrani, Manjima Mohan, Aishwarya Rajesh, Mrs. Brindha Prasad – Chairperson SIIMA and Mr. Vivek Zhang – CMO VIVO India. Actor Rana Dagubatti said, "Short Filmmakers have started moving closer to the mainstream, and large studios have started capitalizing on their success with films like Ghazi, Kshanam and Pellichooplu. SIIMA Short Film Awards promises to support independent films and filmmakers to return to rebellious risky film making”. Aishwarya Rajesh also recalled how she worked with short film turned feature filmmakers like Arun Kumar (Pannaiyarum Padminiyum) and Manikandan (Kaaka Muttai). Veteran actress Suhasini thanked SIIMA for uniting all the four industries under one roof like the good old days, she also went down the memory lane on her first short film experience and how difficult it was for her to get camera and film roll.
